Alden Coria looked like a seasoned pro in his sophomore promotional appearance against Luis Gurule at UFC Houston.
Coria delivered a solid opening round, though it was his work in the second stanza that was especially impressive. Aside from landing a nasty upper cut that popped his opponent’s head back, the Houston native showed off his grappling skills, ending the round on top and likely taking a 2-0 lead over Gurule.
Gurule came out swinging in the third, likely recognizing his back was against the wall. Still, it wasn’t enough as Coria continued to piece up Gurule en route to a decisive decision victory.
Official Result: Alden Coria def. Luis Gurule via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
With the win, ‘Cobra’ moves to 12-3 in his mixed martial arts career and now has back-to-back wins under the UFC banner.
