The Thai-British driver was asked about the group chat the 22 competitors share.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, he explained: “There is a Formula One driver group chat.
“It’s very business-oriented though. I would say it’s 90% business, 10% memes. It’s more around safety and general day-to-days that, for example, we’ll complain about the toilets being bad at a racetrack or something like that, which has no relevance.
He added with a smile and pumping his fist in the air: “I guess it’s a bit of a global ranting forum let’s say.”
Speaking on the Lift and Roast podcast, the former Austrian driver said: “That famous WhatsApp group we’ve got, which I set up back in 2015 or 2016 — it’s absolutely blowing up right now. I’ve never seen it this active, honestly — even just before the podcast it was going off.
“There’s so much flying around in there: emotions, potential solutions, technical ideas, and discussions on how to make sure everyone understands that drivers need to be heard.”
F1 drivers to be listened to?
That would be ahead of the meeting involving the FIA, F1 and the team principal where they review the proposed the changes together. However, despite the growing concerns, GPblog understands that no immediate overhaul is on the table, with any major regulatory changes unlikely to arrive before the 2027 season.
