Interviewer: Alex, plenty to get through. The win, the clean sheet, the goal, the celebration. We’ll work our way through. Let’s start with the victory. What does it mean to everyone not only to win another away game but to win so convincingly?
Alex: Yes, it’s obviously very positive all-round performance. I’ve obviously scored an absolute banger to be fair. It’s a stanch, 30 yards, brilliant strike off the volley. So, yeah, I can’t do much more to be fair. *laughs* It’s a great strike, our lads are brilliant. We’ve got really good depth now. Everyone coming on makes a massive difference and you can see that. Yeah, I just want to dominate this one.
Interviewer: I’m not going to agree with everything you’ve said about the goal. The distance I’m going to say was not quite 30, but other than that, listen, the timing of it, brilliant. You did really well to get there. But to put us in front, I think we were just really starting to turn the screw at that point and takeover so it was a good time to score wasn’t it and for it to be your first for the club as well extra special.
Alex: Yeah obviously the celebration was brilliant. I’ve hit a new top speed celebrating, sprinted my heart out obviously just changed directions and yeah hoping to replicate it next week.
Interviewer: Okay let’s go into the celebration then so what’s that come from? I think the lads were more surprised at your celebration than they were that you’d scored.
Alex: Yeah no just obviously Shearer, without the hands, I’m not there yet. The sprint again was brilliant. I sprinted more than anyone on the pitch today through just my celebration. So obviously a great finish again. um Should have had a second one. Keepers have done a really good save and Bim’s just had to touch it on the line to be fair to him. So that’s another assist probably, but it’s fine.
Interviewer: The timing of those two goals as well in injury time, going in 1-0 at half time would have been good. We went in at three. We probably not had a more important injury time all season when those two goals came.
Alex: Yeah, again, my goal was great finish. I finished it really well and I’m bloody tired. *laughs* Let’s start that again.
Interviewer: We probably won’t have had a stoppage time like that all season. We could have gone in 1-0 at half time, we actually went in 3. It was really important when we scored those two goals. Did it change the dynamic at half time knowing we were that far in front?
Alex: Yeah, it’s nice to go three goals ahead rather than one. Obviously, the last couple of weeks when we go 1-0 up, we get a bit shaky and I think we’ve eradicated that today. Yeah, obviously my strike helps us again. m The calibre of the goal finish, obviously it’s a frightening goal, so obviously probably putting fear into the team, so I’ll probably just go there on Tuesday.
