Alexandra Eala confirms how long her break will now be after winning gold for the Philippines

Alexandra Eala’s preparations for her very first Australian Open main draw began in stunning style at the 2025 SEA Games.

Eala took home the gold medal at the South East Asian Games after defeating Mananchaya Sawangkaew of Thailand in the final.

The Filipino cut into her off-season in order to represent her country and it’s paid off ahead of the Australian Open.

Eala does not have many days until her 2026 season begins, but she has confirmed how many days off after winning gold.

Alexandra Eala confirms details of a break ahead of the 2026 season

Eala’s breakthrough season has seen the star play 66 WTA Tour matches in 2025, having notched up 40 victories.

Speaking to Olympics.com, confirmed how many days she would take off after winning gold for her nation.

She said: “Maybe a couple of days. I went straight from pre-season to this, so I haven’t had a break in a couple of weeks.”

Despite her hectic schedule, Eala has loved her incredible end to a season which has seen her breakthrough on the WTA Tour.

The 20-year-old added: “But it was worth it. Australia, it’s the fun slam, so I’m excited to have fun and give my all.”

Eala will return to action at the ASB Classic, which will also feature the likes of Katie Boulter and Venus Williams.

When is Alexandra Eala back in action?

Eala might have confirmed plans for a break, but she is already set for a tournament before 2025 culminates.

The 20-year-old is set to play the MGM Macau Tennis Masters, an exhibition event that takes place in China on December 27 and 28.

The team event will see Eala play under team captain Li Na, alongside Ugo Humbert and Juncheng Shang.

They will compete against Team Conchita Martinez, which is made up of Mirra Andreeva, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Yibing Wu.
