On Monday, March 9, Bay FC announced that defender Alyssa Malonson had been placed on the season ending injury list following an ACL tear in preseason camp.
Malonson joined Bay FC in December 2023 as the first pick in the NWSL 2024 Expansion Draft. She made 22 regular season appearances with Bay FC in her first year with the team and scored her first professional goal on June 7, 2025 in a match against Portland Thorns FC.
Prior to her time with Bay FC, Malonson played with Seattle (formerly OL) Reign in 2022. After a slow start, she was loaned to Danish club FC Nordsjælland, for which she made 13 appearances. Malonson was originally drafted by the North Carolina Courage, 20th overall, in the 2021 NWSL Draft, but she chose to remain at Auburn University and play her fifth collegiate season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Malonson has also made appearances for the United States at the U-15 and U-23 levels. She has one international cap with the USWNT from October 2024.
Malonson was set to open the season with Bay FC at home against expansion side Denver Summit FC. A key piece of their back line, Bay will miss her reliability and two-way production as a defensive fullback.
