Amazon Celebrates 25 years of sellers today. Twenty-five years ago, Amazon opened its doors to independent sellers. Today, I’m proud to be one of them — and even prouder of the unexpected journey that brought me here.

It all started with chips.
Not microchips. Potato chips.
I was tinkering in my Seattle kitchen, trying to solve a simple problem: how to keep snacks fresh without the usual mess of clips and rubber bands. That small frustration sparked a big idea — one that evolved into a product, then a business, and ultimately a brand with customers nationwide.
But the real twist? That same freshness-focused invention caught the attention of NASA.
Yes, NASA.
What began as a homegrown solution for pantry organization ultimately evolved into a space-adapted system — proof that even the most down-to-earth ideas can reach orbit when they’re built to solve real problems.
Along the way, Amazon has been a key partner. Their platform helped me scale from local orders to a national reach, and their support for independent sellers has made it possible for me to grow without losing the scrappy spirit that started it all.
As Amazon celebrates 25 years of empowering small businesses, I’m reflecting on what it means to build something from scratch — and how far a simple idea can go when it’s backed by curiosity, grit, and a little bit of tech magic.
Here’s to the next 25 years — and to every seller out there turning everyday problems into extraordinary solutions.
