Analyst Raises Alarming Concern About Dillon Gabriel

This is the time of year when players and coaches should be relaxing and resting, but also getting closer and building stronger relationships. However, that doesn’t seem to be happening with Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken and quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

Monken recently said he hasn’t seen Gabriel, a statement that has many Browns fans scratching their heads. After a lackluster rookie season, Gabriel has a ton to prove in 2026. Therefore, why would he not be making his presence known and showing his new head coach all he can do? Speaking on 92.3 The Fan, Ken Carman was dumbfounded by this news and suggested that it looks bad for Gabriel.

In fact, Carman said that he is now more comfortable with the idea of the Browns drafting a new quarterback if Gabriel is MIA.

“It’s rubbing me the wrong way that Todd Monken said he hasn’t seen Dillon Gabriel at all…Maybe a nice Cade Klubnik later on. Maybe a nice Luke Altmyer, maybe you bring him in on Saturday.” Carman said.

Even before the offseason began, there was a lot of speculation and rumors about Gabriel. Some reports have said the fight for QB1 will be a three-man race, but many agree that Gabriel is a distant third behind Sanders and Deshaun Watson. This comment from Monken about not seeing Gabriel might impact that race more.

If the Browns do decide to pursue a QB in the draft, they would have a few options. However, it’s unlikely that they would use one of their first-round picks to get someone. Instead, they would probably target a rookie prospect who could be a backup QB in a later round.

Monken is meeting with players, getting to know them, and putting together plans, and right now, he isn’t seeing Gabriel, but perhaps that will change soon.
