The West Indies have received a big dent as all-round star Andre Russell has been ruled out for the remainder of the T20I series against England. The star all-rounder had injured his ankle in the opening match against England in Barbados and missed the second game, where a seven-wicket victory for England put them ahead 2-0 in the five-match series.
The loss to the star all-rounder sends West Indies into a re-shuffle of the squad as they battle for a position in contention. This is happening as a reinforcement – Shamar Springer has been called to replace Russell, bringing fresh vigour to the squad. With three games remaining, the Caribbean side has an uphill battle without their finest player.

Meanwhile, fast bowler Alzarri Joseph is back in the team after a two-match suspension for the on-field fracas during the third ODI against England. The return does much to recharge firepower in the bowling attack. Injury to the star all-rounder does force a re-shuffle of the squad for West Indies, and Alzarri Joseph’s inclusion means Shamar Joseph will have to make way.
The remaining games will be played in St. Lucia with the third match set to be played on Thursday. This injury to the star all-rounder forces West Indies into re-shuffling their squad, but captain Rovman Powell isn’t going to lose any sleep over it. He hopes a better performance in the remaining games might turn things around for the series.
The new side for the T20I, however, has incorporated Powell (c), Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Terrance Hinds, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, and Shamar Springer.
Injury to the star all-rounder forces West Indies into a squad re-shuffle, and all eyes will now be upon how they can readjust themselves and reassert themselves in the series.
