Anil Kapoor reveals unheard story from Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s dating era

Veteran Indian film actor Anil Kapoor shared an emotional memory of his brief encounter with Virat Kohli during the early days of the cricketer’s relationship with actress Anushka Sharma. Following Kohli’s surprise announcement of his retirement from Test cricket, the actor took to his social media handle to pay his tribute, also revealing an unheard story from a cruise shoot for the film, Dil Dhadakne Do.

Recalling a personal moment, Anil revealed that he met Kohli 11 years ago while Anushka was shooting for the Dil Dhadakne Do movie while on a cruise ship. Kapoor, who was a co-star in the film, said the young cricketer made a lasting impression on him back then.

“We met eleven years ago on a cruise when Anushka was shooting Dil Dhadakne Do. I still remember how warm, humble, and down-to-earth you were. It left a lasting impression on me. Since then, I’ve been admiring you from afar – your discipline, passion, and the sheer joy and pride you’ve given us through your incredible achievements on the field,” he wrote in his Instagram story post.

Virat Kohli to continue representing India in ODIs

Though the two never met again after that brief encounter, Kapoor continued to admire Kohli’s career and congratulated him on the contribution he made to Indian cricket through his performances.

“Though we haven’t met again since, I’ve always been cheering for you. Congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished. You may have retired from Test cricket, but you’ll never retire from the hearts of 1.4 billion Indians and millions more around the world. Thank you, Virat,” he further added.

The Delhi-born cricketer’s announcement to retire from Test cricket surprised fans and celebrities alike. With 123 Tests, 9,230 runs, 30 centuries, and seven double tons, Kohli finishes as one of India’s greatest Test batters and its most successful Test captain, with 40 wins from 68 matches. His decision came after Rohit Sharma stepped away from the red-ball format a few days back.

Kohli made his debut for Team India in 2011 and soon became a regular member of the Test side. Under his leadership, India claimed the world No.1 ranking and famously defeated Australia in their backyard during the 2018–19 series. Notably, the 36-year-old will represent the nation only in the 50-over format, having already announced his retirement from the T20Is and Tests.
