The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced the appointment of Anilkumar as its new secretary-general on Monday. Upon his arrival at the Football House, he was greeted by AIFF treasurer Kipa Ajay and Deputy Secretary General M. Satyanarayan. This event marks a significant step for the AIFF as Anilkumar takes on his new role, bringing fresh leadership to the organization. The welcoming ceremony underscored the importance of this leadership transition, reflecting the Federation’s commitment to strengthening Indian football.
Anilkumar Appointed as Secretary General of AIFF:
Following his appointment as the secretary general of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Anilkumar shared his initial thoughts. He expressed enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility in his new role, emphasizing his commitment to advancing Indian football. Anilkumar’s reaction highlighted his eagerness to contribute to the Federation’s goals and drive positive change within the sport.
He said, “ I know that this is a very big responsibility. I have been working with the Kerala Football Association for quite long and understand the various departments. Definitely, we will work together as a team along with the member associations and other stakeholders of Indian football to take the game ahead in the coming days.”
Anilkumar succeeds Shaji Prabhakaran, who previously held the position of general secretary at the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Prabhakaran was removed from the role in November of the previous year. Anilkumar’s new appointment marks a transition in leadership as he takes over the responsibilities and aims to drive the Federation’s future initiatives and objectives.
He concluded, “ The priority is always to improve in all areas, starting from the grassroots to the top division. We will sit and plan along with the club owners and investors. We will look for possible support from AFC and FIFA to study in detail, to understand where we are actually lacking and plan big things with the direction of the Executive Committee.”
