Sunday is a rest day mostly in France…some grocery stores and many restaurants and patisseries are open but most shops are closed.
I did some computer work and a workout at the hotel and left or Antibes midday to walk the coastal walk around the Cap d’Antibes. I took the train about 20 minutes or so to Antibes, then decided to walk to the trailhead, about an hour away, to see some of the city…in fact I saw more of the coastline (which was nice) and then walked through a nice neighborhood to the start of the trailhead at Plage de la Garoupe. The start of the trailhead was a mess of sandbags..work was being done in that area. Once I got past the sandbags, the first part of the walk was basically on a nicely paved sidewalk.
The weather was quite windy and overcast and it was high tide I think. The walk would be spectacular in good weather (think 17 mile drive in Pebble Beach) and was quite nice and pretty busy on a not so nice day. The water came up over the trail for quite a bit of the walk…I got splashed some once or twice and I saw a group behind me get completely soaked by the wave coming up on the path. I was glad I had on trail running shoes, as some of the trail was slippery and some was very rocky, after the path ended.

I enjoyed the scenery and the walk along the coast, but could not complete the entire walk since the path was blocked at the end. However it was quite long enough. The walk back was along a public road, uninteresting and over an hour back to the train station. I would have taken a bus but was unable to buy a ticket in the app (it was down for maintenance or something), so walked all the way back..I had nearly 27,000 steps today!
I returned about 6:45 to my hotel, tired in a good way from all the fresh air! I think I will sleep well tonight.
Tomorrow I am going to do a bit of shopping or looking anyway and visit old town Nice and perhaps walk a bit along the Promenade des Anglais before catching an evening flight.
