Arjun Tendulkar warmed up for the forthcoming first-class season at the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, popularly known as the KSCA Invitational, a pre-season meet for state teams. He took nine wickets in Goa’s innings, which was enough to win the match by 189 runs against the hosts, Karnataka.
The majority of the KSCA XI’s players were from its U-19 and U-23 teams, with just two well-known players—glovesman Sharath Srinivas and Nikin Jose—in the starting lineup.
In two innings, the son of the late Sachin Tendulkar amassed a match total of 9 for 87 in 26.3 overs. Tendulkar junior took 5/41 in 13 overs as Karnataka collapsed for 103 in 36.5 overs in the opening innings.
Goa, in response, scored a strong 413 thanks to 100 points from Abhinav Tejrana (109) and 69 from Manthan Khutkar.
Arjun took 4 for 46 in 13.3 overs as the KSCA XI were shot out for 121 in 30.4 overs, but they were marginally better in the second innings.
Arjun, who turns 25 next week, has taken 68 wickets in 49 senior competitive games across three formats thus far. He has claimed 21 wickets in 13 first-class matches.
