Arman Tsarukyan’s Snub By UFC Made Sense In The End, Says Daniel Cormier

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has given his thoughts on the promotion snubbing Arman Tsarukyan now that the events of UFC 324 have played out.

In the main event of UFC 324, Justin Gaethje defeated Paddy Pimblett to become the new UFC interim lightweight champion. While it was an entertaining fight, it was also a spot that many expected to see Arman Tsarukyan in, especially given the run of form that he’s been on.

Alas, Dana White wasn’t too happy with some of the conduct of Arman Tsarukyan in recent years, leading to him not getting the call. Now, we’re left to wonder what exactly will be next for him in the UFC, and how long it will take for him to get back to a world title shot.

In a recent video on his channel, Daniel Cormier weighed in on the Arman Tsarukyan debacle.

Daniel Cormier on UFC snubbing Arman Tsarukyan

“It feels like that’s a massive fight that is worthy of being on such a massive card (Topuria vs Gaethje),” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. And with Topuria being who he is, with Gaethje being who he is, an American guy holding a UFC title – look, the UFC booked Paddy Pimblett vs. Justin Gaethje. (If) Paddy Pimblett won, you had a star who was going to fight Ilia for the belt.

“Justin Gaethje won, (and) now you have an American guy holding a portion of a title with a fight at the White House that is going to happen in June. It was a no-lose situation, and honestly I don’t know how we missed it. Everybody’s like, ‘Well, why is that dude, why isn’t it Arman?’ Now it kind of makes sense because now that Gaethje has the belt, you’ve got an American guy holding a title going into the White House. It worked one way or the other. Now it makes more sense to me.”
