Premier League leaders Arsenal will hope to extend their lead at the top of the table when they visit 20th-placed Wolves on Wednesday.

The Gunners currently hold a four-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the standings, but that could be stretched to seven points with victory Molineux.

Manager Mikel Arteta will want to see his side cruise past Wolves, who have won just one match in the league so far this term.

Last time out, the Gunners defeated League One side Wigan Athletic 4-0 to progress comfortably in to round five of the FA Cup.

Now, it appears that the north London side are in talks over the future of one of their most important players.

According to indykaila News, Arsenal have held discussions with captain Martin Odegaard in relation to the midfielder’s role at the club.

The Norwegian was named as the Gunners’ skipper back in 2022 and has played key roles in their ultimately unsuccessful title challenges in each of the past three seasons.

In total the Norwegian has made more than 200 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions, scoring 42 goals and registering 44 assists.

So far this season he has played just 19 times in the league, though, largely due to a knee injury.

It is claimed that the Norway international could leave The Emirates this summer in order to find a new challenge, and England midfielder Declan Rice is named as the player most likely to assume the captaincy role if Odegaard were to depart.

Odegaard’s contract with Arsenal is set to run until the end of the 20287/28 campaign, but it appears that the ex-Real Madrid man could in fact leave the club before that date.
