Arsenal return to Premier League action when they welcome Bournemouth to The Emirates on Saturday.

The Gunners beat Sporting CP 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, having lost the Carabao Cup and then exited the FA Cup at the hands of Championship side Southampton either side of the international break.

Mikel Arteta will hope to see his side beat the Cherries and extend their lead at the top of the table, which currently stands at nine points.

Away from the action, though, it appears that the London side are eyeing a sensational move to sign an England international from a Premier League rival.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Arsenal have been doing background work on a potential move to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

The report claims that the Gunners have identified a shortlist of four possible transfer targets as they look to bolster Arteta’s squad.

AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams are also said to be of interest to the Gunners, although the trio are likely to be on the radar of several clubs.

Gordon, 25, joined Newcastle from Everton in 2023 and has since made 151 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 28 assists.

The report suggests that Arsenal’s ideal signing this summer would be former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, however those in charge of the club’s recruitment have been assessing alternative targets.

Alvarez is said to have attracted interest from Barcelona, and Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, has identified Gordon as a possible target if they miss out on the Argentine.

Arsenal are also said to be interested in two of Gordon’s Newcastle teammates, namely Sandro Tonali and full-back Tino Livramento.
