Gujarat Titans and Ashish Nehra are likely to go their separate ways as the former champion franchise is reportedly planning significant changes on their coaching setup before the IPL 2025 season. A big step in the significant change includes the potential chance of departure of head coach Ashish Nehra.
As per a report, the franchise is considering to not review his contract as they aim for a complete change of the coaching staff. Nehra joined the Titans as head coach in 2022, leading the team to a championship title in their debut. Though they reached the final again in 2023, the franchise seemed determined to make changes in order to improve their chance of securing another title.
The current coaching structure of Titans include Vikram Solanki as director of cricket and Gary Kristen as a mentor and batting coach. Both roles could also be changed as franchise looks to rebuild its coaching team before next IPL season.
though Gujarat Titans have achieved remarkable success under the leadership of Ashish Nehra, Vikram Solanki, and Gary Kristen, many factors will influence franchise’s decision to change the coaching staff. The team’s strong performance, securing a champion title in debut season and a runner-up title in the next year, might not let the team make these changes.
With names like Torrent Pharma and Adani Group being mentioned as probable replacements for CVC Capital Partner, speculations about potential change in ownership of Gujarat Titans are premature. Due to a mandatory 3-year lock-in period for franchise share, ownership transfer is unlikely to occur before 2025 February.
