Asia Cup 2025 to be played in India followed by 2027 Asia Cup to be played in Bangladesh in ODI format

India will organize the next men’s Asia Cup cricket competition in the T20 style in 2025, according to the Asian Cricket Council’s call for interest.

This competition will prepare teams for the T20 World Cup planned for India in 2026. Usually, the Asia Cup helps teams get ready for the big event and uses the same format as the upcoming World Cup.

In 2023, Pakistan was supposed to host the Asia Cup, but it was done in a hybrid model because India didn’t want to go to Pakistan. So, India played their games in Sri Lanka.

In the future, the Asia Cup in 2027 will be played in the One Day International (ODI) format and is planned to happen in Bangladesh. This matches the 50-over World Cup that is also set for South Africa in that year.

The T20 Asia Cup in India in 2025 and the 50-over Asia Cup in Bangladesh in 2027 will both have 13 games each, making a total of 26 matches during that period.

The “Men’s Asia Cup Tournament” refers to the senior men’s cricket competition held every two years, organized and managed by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) with specific member countries participating. This includes teams from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and one additional team from a non-Test playing ACC member country, which is chosen through qualifying competitions, according to the ACC’s recent statement.

India currently holds the championship title, having won the Asia Cup T20 event last year. They defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in a match held at RPS Colombo. Mohammed Siraj was named the Player of the Match for his impressive performance, where he took 6 wickets in 7 overs, conceding only 21 runs. India has been the most successful team in the Asia Cup’s history, having won the championship eight times.
