Travis Head once again took the game away from team India with his explosive batting on the second day of third Test at Gabba on Sunday. Let’s look at AUS vs IND 3rd Test Day 2 highlights.

Continuing his solid form, after scoring a hundred in the pink-ball test earlier in the series, Head went on to play a 152-knock in the first innings of third and crucial Brisbane Test.  

Seasoned Steve Smith also struck a century and provided Head support from the other end to take Australia to 405 for 7 at stumps on day 2.

After a called off day 1, Australia started the second day at 28 for none on day 2. Usman Khawaja was the first batter to get out in the first hour of the day on 31, followed by Nathan Mcsweeney, both were dismissed by India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.  

Marnus Labuschagne was at 12 when Nitish Kumar Reddy sent him back to pavilion. Australia were in a pressure situation after losing 3 for 75, but thanks to Steve Smith and Travis Head hundred that rescued Australia’s innings.  

Both added 241 for the fourth wicket before Bumrah got removed Smith on 101 with the new ball. Travis Head smashed his second century in the series and scored a total of 152 in 160 to provide his team a stage for a big total.  

Jasprit Bumrah only saviour for India  

Jasprit Bumrah was again the leading wicket-taker for India with – wickets. It was Bumrah’s fourth five-wicket haul in Australia, and his second in the ongoing BGT. Bumrah has 12 five-wicket hauls in his 43-match Test career.  

Apart from Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Mohammed Siraj got a wicket each in the entire day, while Akash Deep and Ravindra Jadeja all remained wicketless.  

The 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is currently at 1-1 level, and both the teams are aiming to win the Brisbane Test to take the lead in the series, and boost their chances for making WTC Final, ensuring day 3 even more exciting to wait for.
