Australia’s Riley Meredith Joins Somerset for Vitality Blast Campaign

Australia’s fast bowler Riley Meredith has officially joined Somerset for their Vitality Blast campaign, committing to the club until at least the quarter-final stage of the competition.

The 27-year-old pacer will also be available for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup group stages, along with a “managed number” of Vitality County Championship matches.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the stint, the seamer stated, “I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in English conditions and I can’t wait to get started. Somerset are the current Vitality Blast champions, and I’ll be doing everything I can to help them retain the title.”

Meredith’s international experience includes five T20Is for Australia, where he claimed eight wickets at an average of 23.50, alongside a solitary ODI appearance against West Indies in 2021.

In the T20 format, Meredith boasts an impressive record, having taken 114 wickets in 91 matches at an average of 25.42, with his best figures being 4 for 21 for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. He has also featured in the IPL, representing Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.
