Ava Lee Signs Pro Contract with Hampshire Cricket
Following two seasons playing for the Southern Vipers, which saw Ava take 21 wickets and play in two Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Finals, Ava has signed a new professional contract with Hampshire Cricket.
Still only 19, the off spinner has gained a wealth of experience with two seasons with the Vipers, an England U19s tour and now spending the winter playing in Australia. In July, while playing in a Southern Vipers Academy game, Ava picked up a remarkable 9 wickets for just 2 runs. Ava continues to play her club cricket for Falkland CC where she first started playing and has played her county age group cricket with Berkshire before making her 1st team debut for the county in 2022.
Hampshire’s Regional Director of Women’s Cricket Adam Carty said “In Ava we have a player of real potential. As an off-spinner who generates genuine turn and bounce, and a batter who will undoubtedly develop with opportunity, she has already shown her value to the club as a first XI wicket taker, in addition to making her England bow, as an U19 tourist, early this year, when she performed admirably in a tri-series tournament in Sri Lanka, versus the host nation and Australia.
Having not qualified, by a number of days, to be part of the forthcoming U19 World Cup, I am sure she’ll return from a winter overseas, ready to hit the ground running for Hampshire in 2025.”
“Berkshire Cricket are hugely excited to see Ava sign a new professional contract with Hampshire Cricket. Ava has had a great start to life as a professional cricketer and we look forward to seeing her continue to develop her game with Hampshire Cricket. Congratulations Ava!”
