The much-anticipated series between India and Sri Lanka has been kicked off. Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy is hosting the first T20I match of this series. In the 15th over, Axar Patel’s outstanding dismissal of Pathum Nissanka grabbed the limelight.

The World Champions are taking on Sri Lanka in a three-match T20 series. Since the first match of the series, the Indian side has been showcasing their dominance. But in the second innings, the Sri Lankan batters gave tough competition to the Indian bowlers. But the scenario changed when Axar Patel dismissed Pathum Nissanka.Â
The incident took place on the 15th overs. Till then, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis were maintaining a good partnership. But Axar got the breakthrough. Coming to bowl at the 15th over, he dismissed Nissanka and secured a crucial wicket for the team.Â
In the first ball of the over, Axar Patel bowled from around the wicket and delivered a ball on a length that skidded through. Nissanka, attempting to cut, was caught off guard by the pace. The ball slipped under his bat and struck the leg stump, sending him back to the pavilion.
India’s Triumph Over Sri Lanka:
ince the beginning of the first T20I match, Team India started with their domination. After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl first. Team India’s batters gave a dominating start. While opening the innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill gave a promising start. The duo added 74 runs in the opening partnership. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored 58 runs in 26 deliveries and played a clean captain’s knock. Rishabh Pant added 49 runs. With those efforts, Team India put on a total of 213/7 in 20 overs.Â
While chasing the target, Sri Lanka got an amazing start. While opening the innings, Mendis scored 45 runs. Kusal Perera added 20 runs but Nissanka played an outstanding knock of 79 runs in 48 balls. But the excellence of the Indian bowlers. Riyan Parag was outstanding with the ball. He conceded 5 runs and secured 3 crucial wickets. Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh secured 2 wickets each. Siraj and Ravi Bishnoi secured 1 wicket each. Team India sealed the first T20I match by 43 runs victory. Â
