Babar was named captain of Pakistan’s T20I team, but he wasn’t given that title. In the five-team competition, he will represent Stallions, captained by Muhammad Haris. In addition to him, none of the five teams selected Shan Masood as their captain. Star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was appointed the Lions’ captain, while Saud Shakeel will head the Dolphins.

Babar’s form has been off lately

For the second Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium against Bangladesh, which Shan Masood’s team lost by six wickets, Pakistan’s 24-year-old left-arm bowler was left out of the squad. The Wolves will be led by Shadab Khan, and the Panthers by Muhammad Rizwan.

These days, Babar is going through a hard phase. In addition to being a huge failure as a batsman for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024, under his direction the Men in Green lost badly to the USA in the opening game held in Dallas on June 6. Pakistan was eliminated from the 20-team competition after failing to reach the objective of 120 runs against India in the second game played in New York.

He could only muster up 0, 22, 31, and 11 runs in the two Test innings he played against Bangladesh. In order to strengthen his case for being included in the Pakistan squad for a three-match Test series against England next month, Babar, who hasn’t achieved fifty in his past sixteen Test innings for his country, would have to recover swiftly and produce significant performances in the next games.
