As previously reported, WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer sustained a legitimate ankle injury, which has been woven into her storyline with Raquel Rodriguez on WWE TV. This injury has led to Rodriguez brutally attacking Vaquer to enhance the angle.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Vaquer’s ankle injury is indeed legitimate but is classified as minor. It is not as severe as WWE has portrayed it. Meltzer explained that Rodriguez and Vaquer were initially scheduled to have a match in the next two weeks. However, it remains uncertain whether Vaquer will be ready to compete by then. Nonetheless, a match is expected to happen as soon as Vaquer is cleared to return to the ring.
Meltzer noted that he did not have a specific date for when Vaquer would be medically cleared to compete, and he believes it may not be as immediate as some hope, but he has heard that Vaquer will be cleared relatively soon.
During last Monday night’s episode of WWE RAW, Vaquer was again attacked by Rodriguez, who took Vaquer’s title belt and whipped it across La Primera’s ankle. WWE has not yet announced the date for their match, but updates will be provided as they become available. Vaquer signed with WWE in 2024 and made history in 2025 as the first woman to hold both the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship simultaneously.
