As previously reported, The IInspiration, consisting of Jessie McKay and Cassie Lee, formerly known as The IIconics in WWE, made their official debuts in AEW during the House Rules event on Sunday. They faced Frankie P and Ayesha in a tag team match and emerged victorious. After the match, the duo announced that they had officially signed with the company.
According to Fightful Select, McKay and Lee signed their multi-year contracts with AEW nearly a month ago after concluding their run with TNA Wrestling. They had their last appearance at the iMPACT premiere on AMC on January 15th, where they lost the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship to The Elegance Brand and were believed to have signed with AEW soon after.
The report also noted that McKay and Lee’s contracts with TNA Wrestling expired around the time of Bound For Glory last October, and they had been working without deals ever since. Sources indicated that their departure from TNA was amicable, and there were even rumors within WWE suggesting that if they didn’t appear at the Royal Rumble on January 31st, they were likely headed to AEW.
Additionally, it was reported that AEW star Harley Cameron is the lyricist for the theme song that The IInspiration has been using for many years.
AEW has reportedly been making several signings that have yet to be revealed. The IInspiration is one such example, along with Lena Kross, who made her debut at Grand Slam: Australia as an ally of Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford.
