As previously reported, WWE United States Champion Sami Zayn is scheduled to defend his title against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42 Night 2 next weekend. During last Friday night’s SmackDown, Zayn appeared for a promo segment, where he received boos and a mixed reaction from the audience.
According to BodySlam+, WWE is considering a double turn between Zayn and Williams in their United States Title match. Zayn has been experiencing what is referred to as “go-home heat,” while Williams has been receiving increasingly positive reactions as the weeks progress.
Fans have widely criticized the decision not to include Carmelo Hayes in the match, which Williams addressed during a recent interview with The Sun Sport. For now, the matchup between Zayn and Williams remains the designated United States Title match at WrestleMania 42. Zayn reclaimed the U.S. Title last month on SmackDown when he defeated Hayes, with Williams interfering in the match and attacking Hayes, allowing Zayn to capitalize and win the championship.
