Shaheen Shah Afridi confirmed that “there will be three debutants” for Pakistan in the first of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Mirpur on March 11, 2026.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, the Pakistan skipper said Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat and Shamyl Hussain are set to make their debut in the first ODI while also clarifying their batting positions.

“There are several players in the squad and a few of them will make their debut tomorrow. One of them is Sahibzada Farhan, who has been a top performer in T20s and List A cricket for Pakistan. Maaz Sadaqat will open the batting, while Shamyl Hussain will bat at No. 3. So, there will be three debutants in the team and I hope they play their natural game and showcase their skills. As a team, we are excited to see them represent Pakistan not just in this series but also in the future,” he said.

Farhan enters the series after finishing as the highest run-scorer in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He scored 383 runs in six innings at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25.

Sadaqat was Pakistan’s top performer in the ACC Men’s U-23 Emerging Asia Cup, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 258 runs in five matches.
Meanwhile, Hussain impressed in domestic cricket, scoring 899 runs in the 2025–26 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and 452 runs in List A cricket. A former Pakistan U-19 player, he has also represented Islamabad United and captained Pakistan Shaheens.
