The game of cricket is one of the most followed sports in the world, and there have been a mix of incredible and bizarre moments seen over the years which would either make the fans curious or chuckle in the end. One such moment was witnessed in the ODI series between Bangladesh A and New Zealand A, which took place in Sylhet.
The Bangladesh A side batted first and went on to give a modest target of just 227 to the visitors. It was the fifth over of the second innings which was bowled by Ebadot Hossain with Rhys Mariu on strike when the bizarre incidenet unfolded. Bangladesh A wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan stood in the first slip’s position instead of the keeper’s usual place. It seemed the tactic was to distract the batter.
However, it failed as Ebadot bowled a delivery just outside off stump, which Mariu just left alone. In the end, the ball went on to hit Nurul’s helmet, which was placed right behind the batter. This strange move by Nurul turned out to cost the team a lot, as the New Zealand A side was awarded five runs in the end. The clip of that moment has gone viral on social media, with fans questioning the wicket-keeper’s plan.
