Bangladesh’s head coach made a candid admission after a 2-0 loss against India

The head coach of Bangladesh Chandika Hathurusinghe mentioned that they were taken aback by India’s aggressive disposition on the fourth day of the second Test match at Green Park, Kanpur. It is worth noting that on the fourth day of the Test match, in which a complete two days were lost due to rains, India came out all firing on all cylinders and batted at an astonishing run rate of 8.22, bringing up 285/9 in a mere 34.4 overs.

Consequently, India was able to gain a narrow first-innings lead of 52 runs, taking command of the match in no time. Analysing India’s batting on Day 4, Hathurusinghe added that it was quite a surprise for them to witness India getting out with such batting order and added that they will take it positively.

“Such treatment had not been seen before and we failed to correlate it immediately. Credit to Rohit (Sharma) and his team for being aggressive and giving even us a fight. Next time we will be aware of the level high standard as this is the best team. This is the most difficult task playing against India thus we understand how much we need to work on ourselves,” Hathurusinghe said in the post-match press conference.

A bit further talking, the Bangladesh head coach said that all rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be taking part in the next Test match against emerging South African player from October 21.

“From what I know, he will play in the Test match against South Africa,” he said.

Shakib Informed his retirement from T20I prior to the second Test. He also retired from the longest format of the game and made it clear that his last match would be in Bangladesh. Even Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was approached for security purposes for him to play his final Test match within his country.

However, the BCB stated that there are no measures they could take to guarantee his safety and only the government can do this. Moreover, Shakib will return to USA after the Kapur Test as he is not part of the T20I team that will take play against India from October 6.
