The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has announced that Barbados’ iconic Kensington Oval will host the CPL final for the first time in 2026, marking a significant milestone for the venue. Meanwhile, Guyana will host the 2025 final at the Providence Stadium, marking the fourth consecutive year that the CPL finale will take place in the South American nation.

The CPL made the announcement via a press release on Friday, confirming one-year deals with both venues for the next two seasons. The move reflects the growing collaboration between the CPL and the governments of Guyana and Barbados.

Guyana President said

Guyana’s President, Mohammed Irfan Ali, expressed his excitement for the 2025 final and wished the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the defending CPL champions, success as they head into the 2024 final. “I want to take this opportunity to wish Guyana Amazon Warriors all success as we try to make it two in a row,” he said. “I am delighted to announce that Guyana will be hosting the CPL 2025 finals.”

Barbados Royals, two-time CPL champions, last lifted the trophy in 2019. Pete Russell, the CPL CEO, highlighted the strong partnerships with Guyana and Barbados, which have played a vital role in the league’s growth. “Guyana and Barbados have been amazing partners for CPL over the last 12 years, and it is really exciting to announce them as hosts for the finals in 2025 and 2026 respectively,” Russell said.

In the current CPL season, the Guyana Amazon Warriors booked their spot in the 2024 final after beating Barbados Royals in the second qualifier. Moeen Ali, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Shai Hope led the chase, successfully overhauling a target of 149 in just 15 overs. The Warriors will now face St Lucia Kings for the 2024 CPL title on October 6.

As the CPL continues to grow, the selection of these prestigious venues for the next two finals underscores the tournament’s increasing popularity and importance in the cricketing world. Fans can look forward to exciting finales in both Guyana and Barbados in the coming years.
