Federico Barbon, former Southeastern University Star, beat Pedro Garcia, top Varsity player for Ave Maria University, 6-0, in an awesome display of serve-and-volley skills and net play to capture the Open Division.
The Open Division comprised of area College players, top ranked juniors and local pros. “Barbon was probably NAIA’s premiere Doubles player back in 2023, stated Ed Krass, and he put on one heckuva show executing the midcourt volleys with perfection today”.
In the 7& Under UTR Division, Bryce Newman, who trains at the Hobson Performance Academy, nipped Ave Maria’s top Varsity player, Clara Penido, 6-5(7-3) in a thriller.
The event’s 26 players and fans were treated to a compact 4 hour event filled with exciting serve & volley tennis, rockin tunes, tournament T-Shirt, Pizza, drinks and snacks.
