Another new feather has been added into the crown of Indian cricket. On September 29, the BCCI officially launched the new National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. This facility aims to develop future cricket talent in India. The revamped BCCI Centre of Excellence boasts modern features, including three types of pitches and additional amenities.
Incredible Facilities in BCCI Centre of Excellence:
The new BCCI Centre of Excellence has finally opened, offering ultra-modern facilities. Spread across 40 acres, this state-of-the-art venue features three cricket grounds and 86 pitches, designed for both indoor and outdoor use. The main ground, known as Ground A, has an impressive 85-yard boundary and 13 red-soil pitches, known for providing extra bounce.
These red-soil pitches are similar to those used in the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. This will help players prepare for bouncier conditions, especially on foreign tours. The bouncy pitches will be instrumental as India prepares for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
The newly inaugurated facility is expected to be a hub for grooming future cricket talent. With its world-class infrastructure. The BCCI Centre of Excellence promises to raise the bar for cricket training in India, offering cricketers the best environment to develop and hone their skills for international competitions.

Some New Age Drainage Developments:
A standout feature of this ground is the Herringbone drainage system, which enables rapid water evaporation after rain. This advanced subsurface drainage setup ensures the ground recovers quickly from rainfall. Even after heavy showers, the system efficiently drains water, allowing play to resume without significant delays.
While talking about this, the project manager said, “It’s innovative subsurface drainage system ensures quick recovery after rainfall, minimizing disruptions and maintaining a consistent playing schedule.”
What are There for Ground B and C?
Grounds B and C are specifically designated for practice sessions. Both have 75-yard boundaries. Ground B is equipped with 11 pitches made from Mandya soil, while Ground C has nine pitches composed of Black Cotton soil sourced from Kalahandi, Odisha. These specialized pitches provide diverse playing conditions, allowing players to adapt and enhance their skills.
VVS Laxman is all excited about this. While talking about those developments, he said, “I think the pitches here will allow them to improve their adaptability. And the three beautiful grounds will allow them to face any situation with a lot of confidence.”
What is the Practice Scenario?
The center covers 40 acres and provides excellent practice facilities. It includes 45 outdoor net pitches, divided into nine groups, all separated by high-quality safety nets from England. Additionally, there is a special fielding practice area and six outdoor running tracks, featuring both natural grass and Mondo synthetic surfaces for varied training.
For indoors, the practice facility is equally impressive. It houses eight pitches with high-quality English and Australian turfs. These premium surfaces are designed to replicate international playing conditions, helping players train at an elite level.
