BCCI Reveals Duleep Trophy Round 2 Squads with Rinku and Mayank

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the squads for the second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, commencing on September 12 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, has made significant changes to the teams, particularly affecting players who have been called up for the Indian squad ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh.

Notably, prominent players such as Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will not participate in this round as they prepare for the Test series. In their absence, several players have been drafted into the squads, showcasing the depth of talent available in Indian cricket.

New Faces in India A and B Squads

In the India A squad, Mayank Agarwal has been appointed captain, stepping into a leadership role as the team looks to build on its performance. Pratham Singh from Railways will replace Gill, while Akshay Wadkar from Vidarbha CA takes the place of KL Rahul. Additionally, SK Rasheed from Andhra has been named as the replacement for wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. The squad also sees left-arm spinner Shams Mulani stepping in for Kuldeep Yadav and Aaqib Khan from UPCA replacing Akashdeep.

In India B, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Yash Dayal have been released to join the national team, with Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh brought in as replacements. Sarfaraz Khan, who has also been named in the national squad, will still participate in the second round. Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh’s Himanshu Mantri has been added to the India B lineup.

Stability in India C and Changes in India D

The India C squad remains unchanged for the second round, providing continuity as they aim to perform well in the tournament. In contrast, India D will be without the services of Axar Patel, who has been replaced by Haryana’s Nishant Sindhu. Additionally, Tushar Deshpande has been ruled out due to a minor injury and will be replaced by Vidwath Kaverappa, who is moving up from India A.
