BCCI set to organise mega auctions for IPL 2025 outside India: Reason

The Indian Premier League is set to host the upcoming mega auctions where every franchise has to submit their list of retention by 5PM on October 31st 2024. According to sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen to host the auctions overseas. The board has sent teams to Saudi for Reece.

A source from BCCI revealed that they have decided to shift the IPL mega auctions at an oversea venue due to the upcoming festive and wedding season.

A top source in BCCI said we have sent teams to Saudi once they’re back will finalise the location infact we have done search in India also but due to festive seasons and a lot of marriage’s hotels are not available that’s why we are exploring options overseas,” said a source close to BCCI.

The dates for the upcoming mega auctions will most likely collide with the upcoming season of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, hosted by Australia from November 22. As per the sources, the date for the mega auction will be from November 20-25.
