BCCI Terminates Abhishek Nayar and T Dilip Roles
What could be termed as a shocking move after a successful ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, BCCI has decided to relieve members of the coaching staff for Team Indian Abhishek Nayar & T Dilip. Let’s take a look at why BCCI terminates Abhishek Nayar & T Dilip Roles.
Why did BCCI terminate Abhishek Nayar and T Dilip from Team India duties?
The BCCI decided to remove assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, fielding coach T Dilip, and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai following India’s disappointing 1-3 Test series loss in Australia. A performance review led to this shake-up as the board aims to restructure the coaching setup. Despite Nayar’s strong reputation and positive rapport with players, and Dilip’s recent extension, the board moved forward with their dismissal. The decision reflects the BCCI’s intent to introduce stricter standards and accountability in the support staff ahead of the upcoming tour of England in June.

Who will replace them?
The BCCI has made key changes to its support staff ahead of the England tour. Reports suggest that Adrian Le Roux could be appointed as the new strength and conditioning coach, replacing Soham Desai. Le Roux previously worked with IPL franchises like KKR and Punjab Kings.
Sitanshu Kotak has taken over as the batting coach after the Australia series loss. Fielding duties, formerly handled by T Dilip, will now be shared by assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. However, no replacement has been named yet for assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, and the BCCI has decided not to appoint anyone new for now.
How will it impact the India Tour of England 2025 series?
It is obvious that the squad and team had been quite familiar with those faces, and after their departure, it’ll take some time to get used to new coaching staff and getting used to the fraining and training in the team building session.
Although changes do take time, the decision was made with the motive to find a positive and better change, after suffering a disappointing BGT loss, India will likely be a challenge for the English side in the 5-match test series which starts from June 20, 2025.
