BCCI’s Special ‘Namo Jersey for PM Modi

The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah and President Roger Binny presented the ‘Namo 1’ jersey to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The victorious Indian cricket team, fresh from their T20 World Cup win, met with the Prime Minister at his official residence.

A Celebratory Meeting

During the meeting, the Men in Blue donned a special jersey featuring two stars over the BCCI emblem, symbolizing their two T20 World Cup victories. The word ‘CHAMPIONS’ was emblazoned boldly on the front.

The BCCI shared the moment on social media, stating, “The triumphant Indian Cricket Team met with the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji, at his official residence today upon arrival. Sir, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your inspiring words and the invaluable support you have provided to Team India.”

Prime Minister Modi also tweeted about the meeting, calling it ‘excellent’ and describing the conversation with the team as memorable.

Victory Celebrations Continue

Following the meeting with PM Modi, the team departed for Delhi airport to head to Mumbai for a grand victory parade. BCCI has organized this event at Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium, with free entry for the public. Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik mentioned that Team India players from Mumbai will meet Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Earlier in the day, the T20 World Cup-winning team arrived in Delhi to a warm reception from fans. The team endured a delay in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl but was flown back to India on a special flight organized by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

India ended a 13-year ICC trophy drought by defeating South Africa in the final, with standout performances from Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah, who was named Player of the Tournament.

The celebrations will continue with an open-top bus ride in Mumbai, allowing fans to join in the festivities and celebrate India’s cricketing success.
