Devin Haney was recently called out on social media by a former UFC champion ahead of a potential rematch with Ryan Garcia later in the year.
Garcia and Haney first fought in 2024, with ‘King Ry’ getting the nod on the night before the result was overturned to a no contest after Garcia failed a drugs test.
Many have called for a rematch over the last two years and it seems closer than ever.
Garcia comes off a statement victory over Mario Barrios to become WBC welterweight world champion.
Prior to the fight with ‘El Azteca’, ‘King Ry’ was on the wrong side of a shock points loss to Rolando Romero.
Haney is also on a nice run of form after their first encounter.
‘The Dream’ has won both of his return fights on the cards, first returning against Jose Ramirez on the undercard of Garcia vs Romero.
He most recently dethroned WBO world champion Brian Norman Jr in what was an impressive showing.
Despite both holding world titles at welterweight, Haney did reveal he still has some reservations over a rematch with Garcia when speaking to Inside The Ring.
“I do agree that he has 10 million followers and that is good and all.
“But at the end of the day Ryan messed up the first fight.
“He basically just trumped the whole fight, he was acting like he was crazy.
“So can we really trust this guy to not do this again?”
Former UFC world champion and Conor McGregor opponent Nate Diaz commented on the podcast moment, clearly showing he disagrees with Haney.

Haney revealed he is close to making a fight with the current world champion and the man who defeated Garcia, Rolando Romero, official.
He first reported the ongoing negotiations in a post shared to his X profile.
“My father spoke to Luis (Rolly’s manager). Rumours are true… Let’s see if we can get this done, inshallah.”
Garcia’s next step remains unknown, but if he is to fight before a rematch with Haney, two names he continues to call out are Shakur Stevenson and new Zuffa Boxing signee Conor Benn.
