Ben Whittaker stormed past Benjamin Gavazi with a highlight reel first round knockout in Birmingham on Saturday.
Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) floored Gavazi (19-2, 13 KOs) and pounced on the German shortly afterwards, blasting him out with a brutal right hand at the National Exhibition Centre.
‘The Surgeon’, a 2020 Olympic Silver medalist, made his debut with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing after leaving Ben Shalom’s BOXXER and was accompanied to the ring by rapper Dizzee Rascal in a dramatic ring walk.
The 28-year-old, who blew away Liam Cameron in two rounds in their rematch in April, had the visitor down after unloading with a flurry to head and body.
The West Bromwich favourite didn’t let Gavazi off the hook and after putting him on unsteady legs with a left-right combination, Whittaker detonated a stunning right hand which laid out the 30-year-old.
Whittaker secured the WBC Silver light heavyweight crown and moved himself closer to a shot at WBC world champion, David Benavidez.
Bowen stunned by Cowling
Aaron Bowen suffered a shock first professional defeat, as Tom Cowling climbed off the canvas to edge a thriller.
Bowen (7-1, 5 KOs) floored Cowling (15-1, 4 KOs) in the fifth round with a hard right hand, but the Nottinghamshire man responded well, stunning the 26-year-old on several occasions.

Bowen looked out on his feat as both men swung away in a frantic final round and the bout headed to the scorecards.
A 96-93 score in favour of the Coventry man was overruled by two scores of 95-94 for Cowling, who deservedly claimed the vacant Midlands Area middleweight title at the second attempt.

Vuong-Gwynne draw in rematch
Cameron Vuong and Gavin Gwynne were held to a majority draw in their rematch.
Vuong (9-0-1, 4 KOs) had taken a close win over his Welsh rival in the first outing last November also in Birmingham.
‘The One’ had the best of the early exchanges, moving well on the back foot and outboxing the Welshman.

However, Gwynne (18-4-2, 5 KOs) came on strong in the second half of the fight, pressuring the 23-year-old relentlessly, as he tired down the stretch.
Both men dug in deep, sensing that the fight was close and the result reflected that.
A score of 97-93 in favour of Vuong was overruled by two scores of 95-95, declaring the contest a stalemate and meant neither man walked away with the vacant WBO Intercontinental lightweight belt which was at stake.
McCann overcomes Cotton
Molly McCann secured a second professional win since switching over from the UFC, overcoming Ebonie Cotton on points in their super bantamweight contest.
Cotton (1-1) was cut after a head clash in the fourth round and McCann (2-0, 1 KO) capped off a dominant performance with a 58-56 scorecard.

Remaining Undercard
Ibraheem Sulaimaan (10-0, 5 KOs) won the vacant Midlands super featherweight title stopping Nico Ogbeide (6-2-1) in the sixth round.
Former world title challenger, Zelfa Barrett (34-3, 18 KOs) picked up a third straight win, overcoming Liam Dillon (15-5-1, 3 KOs) on points.
