Welcome back to our Discussion series. It’s easy to get lost in ETAs, Future Value grades, and the nuts and bolts of Rebuild 2.0. But let’s step away from the spreadsheets for a second and look at the actual grass. Today’s soapbox question is a rare departure from our usual defensive crouch.
We spend so much time bracing for impact that we forget what the “dream scenario” even looks like. Is it Colson Montgomery cutting the K-rate, hitting 40 bombs and turning into the All-Star shortstop we know he can be? Is it Munetaka Murakami making the jump from Japan and turning 35th Street into a mosh pit every time he touches a baseball? Or maybe it’s the “Weird Lefty” trinity of Noah Schultz, Hagen Smith, and Christian Oppor arriving in the summer and making opposing lineups look like they’re swinging underwater.
We aren’t asking for a World Series ring just yet, we’re realistic (and scarred). We want to know what version of 2026 makes you actually enjoy checking the box score again. Is it a 79-win “Cinderella” season that puts the AL Central on notice? A Rookie of the Year campaign from Braden Montgomery? Or just a year where the kids stay healthy and the “blueprint” finally starts to look like a house?
Let us know what YOUR “Maximum Fun” 2026 looks like. Because after the last few years, we’re due for a summer that doesn’t feel like a nightmare.
