Brisbane Heat recorded their sixth straight win in a row, defeating Sydney Thunder in a decent scoring do or die challenger clash to reach the WBBL 2024-25 final. Let’s look at BH-W vs ST-W Challenger Match Highlights.

The Heat’s disciplined bowling attack restricted the Thunder to a modest 133, setting up a manageable chase for the two-time champions, which they chased in 15.2 overs with nine wickets in hand. 

With this commanding performance, the Heat continued their top form and reinforced their status as title contenders.

Despite starting on a steady note, the Thunders faced a collapse and went from 42 for 1 to 69 for 7.  

It was Hannah Darlington who rescued the side with her unbeaten 40 off 29 that included 4 fours and 2 maximums. Taneale Peschel provided Darlington with good support and played a 24 off 16 to take Thunders total to 133 in 20 overs.  

Brisbane while chasing lost their first wicket early, but thanks to Georgia Redmayne’s and Jemimah Rodrigues, who both keep Heat in the game.  

Rodrigues went back to pavilion after being retired hurt for 43 off 30, while Redmayne remained unbeaten in the process by scoring 50* off 41.

Grace Parsons of Brisbane was awarded the player of the match award for bowling a brilliant spell of 3-0-10-3. 

Performance in WBBL 2024-25  

Team Brisbane began its WBBL 2024-25 campaign on a high note with 2 straight wins before losing their track and faced three defeats in a row.  

However, with a confident outlook and aim to claim their third Big Bash title, the Heat went on to win their next five league games and entered the challenger after finishing second on points table after the completion of league stage.  

The Heat faced a significant task in challenger, as they were up against the Sydney Thunder, who had previously defeated them during the league run. But Brisbane passed the challenging task and advanced to the final.   

Brisbane Heat will now face Melbourne Renegades for the title clash on December 1st at Melbourne.
