India achieved a perfect 3-0 victory in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, winning the final match in a thrilling super over on Tuesday. Sri Lanka seemed in control during their chase, but Suryakumar’s bold move to have Rinku Singh bowl in the 19th over and then bowl the last over himself turned out to be a smart strategy. Sri Lanka, starting at 110/1, quickly lost many wickets and ended up scoring just 137/8 in 20 overs.
In the super over, India dominated again, securing a big win. Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif praised Suryakumar’s leadership, especially his bowling decisions, and shared his admiration on social media.
“Bhai Rohit Sharma ka chela hai Surya.. 19th over Rinku se, 20th over khud SKY and won the game. What else one needs to be a great leader?” he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
As Sri Lanka needed nine runs to win from 12 balls, India called on Rinku Singh to use his part-time off-spin bowling. Rinku, making his debut in T20 internationals, allowed just three runs and took two wickets in a great 19th over. Captain Suryakumar Yadav then surprised everyone by bowling the final over himself, conceding only five runs and taking two wickets, forcing the game into a Super Over. India won the Super Over, completing a 3-0 victory.
