Kansas head coach Bill Self was ejected during the first half of Tuesday’s game against Arizona State after expressing his ire for a foul call on star freshman Darryn Peterson.
With six minutes left in the first half, Peterson and Sun Devils guard Bryce Ford grappled near the baseline as Peterson attempted to come off a screen. Peterson tried to run through Ford, who was preventing him from moving, but was whistled for the foul.

Self crossed half court arguing the call and was given an initial technical. He continued to berate an official, who issued him a second technical. After Self’s ejection, Jacque Vaughn was also assessed a technical foul, with under a minute left in the first half, to give the Jayhawks three technicals.
Peterson was held without a field goal in the first half, and the Jayhawks were off to a slow start, trailing the Sun Devils 23-16 when Self was ejected. ASU’s lead grew to 20 points by halftime. However, Kansas jumped out to a 10-2 run to start the second half.
This was the third ejection of Self’s career. His last ejection came in a loss to Texas Tech in 2024.
