Blackheath Colts v Roebucks Academy

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour.

Brain Tumour Research’s vision is to find a cure for all types of brain tumours and to increase UK investment in research into this devastating disease. As the only national charity dedicated to this cause, it gives hope to thousands of families by addressing a condition that receives just 1% of national cancer research funding despite its severe impact.

Tom Chapman, a former first-team player in the 2010s, made over 150 National League appearances during five seasons with Blackheath, Worcester Warriors, Bath, and TJs. In March 2025, he was diagnosed with a grade 4 astrocytoma.

Despite a bleak prognosis, Tom has not allowed the disease to halt his plans, and together with his wife (and former Red Rose – Vicky Fleetwood) run the Roebucks Academy based at Horn Park.

Established in 2021, Roebucks is a charity which offers free rugby for 16-18 year olds in Southeast London, who have no school rugby on offer.

This match is in aid of Brain Tumour Research and to help Tom with ongoing medical expenses. It is scheduled for Wednesday 18th March at Well Hall, kick off 19:30.

We therefore ask all the Blackheath family to come and support the match between Blackheath Colts and Roebucks Academy.  Free entry to the ground, and the bar will be open from 19:00. Donations will be gratefully received on the night.

Of course, if you’d like to make a donation, but aren’t able to get to the game, go to Tom’s Just Giving page.
