It’s been over two months since Thea Hail defeated Blake Monroe for the NXT North American Championship. While the dubious victory wasn’t scheduled to happen, it did cause a huge shakeup backstage. The NXT crew went scrambling, causing some serious policy changes for the developmental program. NXT officials aren’t the only ones who haven’t forgotten. The Glamour is still pretty salty about her Title loss. Blake Monroe shares her true feelings about Thea Hail, leading into their clash on NXT in Speed competition this week.
Blake Monroe Shares Thoughts About Referee In Thea Hail Match
As 2025 came to a close, Blake Monroe was finding her groove as the NXT Women’s North American Champion. The former Mariah May was on a collision course with Jordynne Grace. However, the card is subject to change, especially when mistakes happen.
Blake Monroe hit a road bump on her road to 2026. Thea Hail hit Blake Monroe with a Springboard Backward Senton, driving the wind out of The Glamour. The blow knocked Monroe so silly that she missed her cue to kick out, giving Thea Hail the unexpected Title win.
Sam Roberts asked Blake Monroe if there was anything positive to come out of the loss, and the former North American Champion didn’t hold back:
“I mean, look, the negative is Thea Hail will always be attached to me now. I have to wrestle her next week, and you’re lucky I’ve shown up today. I was going to go to therapy, but I decided to be a company woman and show up. But no.
I mean, I think the theme of my career is…people will talk about me, and who are you if you’re not talked about?
To be honest…and it was definitely shocking, and I feel like the ref was clearly in a rush to get home. I mean, he counted that quick.”
While Blake Monroe had some choice words for the referee, Felix Fernandez. However, NXT officials decided that the young referee did nothing wrong, following protocol. That said, Blake Monroe’s accusations didn’t end there. The Glamour came for Thea Hail next.
Thea Hail Injures Blake Monroe’s Ribs
When the dust settled on the botched NXT Title Match, backstage reports indicated that Blake Monroe was highly upset. Not only was she mad at the referee, but the former AEW Women’s Champion was also upset with Thea Hail.
As we mentioned, Thea Hail threw all of her body weight back at Monroe. This caused Blake Monroe to temporarily black out from pain, costing her the Title in an unscripted fashion.
Thea Hail did more than take Blake’s breath away. She also did some long-term damage to the London-born Superstar.
Blake Monroe took offense when Sam asked if her rivalry with Thea Hail had been therapeutic:
“No, I can’t believe you you you’re taking me back now to Christmas because I actually got injured, too. Like, I damaged all the cartilage in my ribs.
So, I spent my Christmas break, bandaged up like this, having to do rehab, thinking of all the things Iwould do to Thea Hail, and then never actually got to wrestle her.”
Blake Monroe wants revenge on Thea Hail. However, she hasn’t a chance to give it to her. This week, the two will clash, but Blake Monroe seems disappointed in the circumstances.
Blake Monroe and Thea Hail Finally Clash In Speed Competition
It’s been two months since Thea Hail pinned Blake Monroe for the NXT Women’s North American Title. The Glamour has been stewing since then to get her revenge.
Blake and Thea were to clash at New Year’s Evil, but Monroe got ahead of herself. She attacked the Champion from behind, effectively canceling their match. Thea Hail would still set up an Open Challenge, which was accepted by Izzi Dame. Bron Breakker’s girlfriend would win the Title, effectively ending Thea Hail’s shocking reign.
It’s safe to say Blake Monroe wants a proper receipt and is unhappy it’s yet to happen, commenting on her match this week:
“I’m going to get my revenge next week in under three minutes.”
While it sounds like Blake Monroe plans to bring a world of hurt to Thea Hail quickly, the three-minute comment is a reference to the Speed Division. The two will face off in a Women’s Speed Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament Match on tomorrow’s NXT.
It’s safe to say, Blake Monroe wants more than three minutes with Thea Hail. However, this will have to suffice.
