Blue Jays Nation’s 2026 Pre-Season Prospect Countdown – No. 11: Victor Arias

Blue Jays Nation’s 2026 Pre-Season Prospect Countdown – No. 11: Victor Arias

Just three years ago, the Toronto Blue Jays were lacking notable outfield prospects. Now, they have a whole bunch of them, including our 11th-ranked prospect, Victor Arias.

This is Blue Jays Nation’s bi-annual prospect ranking, where we’ll look at the top 35 prospects in the system in the month of February. As always, I’ll look at the player’s stats, what other publications have to say, as well as my own observations of the players. If you missed the 12th-ranked prospect, you can read about Juan Caricote here.

Getting to know Victor Arias…

Position: Outfield

Bats: Left

Born: August 24th, 2003

Acquired: 2019 International Free Agency

Arias was signed by the Blue Jays during the 2019 International Free Agency for an undisclosed amount, but didn’t make his professional debut until 2021. With the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays that season, the outfielder slashed .248/.388/.339 with two home runs in 134 plate appearances. In 2022, also in the DSL, Arias only received 67 plate appearances, where he failed to hit a home run.

The 2023 season saw Arias come state side for the first time in his career, slashing .222/.395/.393 with four home runs in 152 plate appearances for a 118 wRC+ in the Florida Complex League. By the end of the season, Arias got a short look in Single-A, hitting an additional home run in 13 plate appearances, then made his Double-A debut as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats needed some players in the lineup.

Arias started to gain serious helium in 2024, as he slashed .279/.386/.452 with eight home runs in 332 plate appearances with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays. Additionally, Arias dropped his strikeout rate to 21.7%, the best rate of his career. By the end of the season, Arias had made it to High-A, where he slashed .324/.425/.353 with no home runs in 40 plate appearances.

Beginning the 2025 season in High-A with the Vancouver Canadians, the Venezuelan native slashed .294/.381/.437 with five home runs in 318 plate appearances, with an 11.3 BB% and 20.1 K% for a 129 wRC+. His first real foray into the upper-minors didn’t go great, as Arias slashed just .226/.293/.331 with two home runs in 150 plate appearances once he was promoted to the Double-A Fisher Cats.

It happens, but it’s quite uncommon to see a 21-year-old in Double-A, which is exactly what Arias did last season. Heading into the 2026 season, Arias ranked as Fangraphs’ seventh-best Blue Jays prospect, as he could have plus raw power in the future, and already has plus speed despite a fringe hit tool. Arias hits the ball hard and is a solid contact hitter, with the publication noting his high ceiling.

Arias will start the 2026 season in Double-A, where he’ll need to take another step forward. If he can, there’s potential that he could reach Triple-A by the end of the season. Another good season will essentially force the Blue Jays’ hands to add the 22-year-old outfielder to their 40-man roster, as he is still Rule 5 eligible after not being taken in December.
