BMS monitoring disorganized convection – nationnews.com

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring a disorganized area of convection located near 9.5N, 45W, approximately 1006 miles (1620 km) east-southeast of Barbados as of 11:00 am today, Saturday, July 27, 2024.

There are currently no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados related to this system.

On its current trajectory, the system is expected to pass to the north of Barbados around Wednesday or Thursday of next week. As a result, no significant impacts are anticipated at this time.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring updates from the BMS, the Department of Emergency Management (DEM), and the Government Information Service (GIS) via their websites, social media pages, and local media outlets.

Over the coming days, environmental conditions are not expected to support significant development of the system. Consequently, no direct weather impacts are forecasted for Barbados. However, as the system tracks north of the island, a reduction in wind speeds is anticipated. This will likely lead to uncomfortably warm days throughout the week, accompanied by isolated afternoon showers.

The next update will be provided at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 28.
