Julian Ryerson followed up his four assists against Mainz with another in the UEFA Champions League as Borussia Dortmund swept aside Serie A outfit Atalanta.
The Norwegian provided assists for each of Dortmund’s four goals at the weekend, laying on a brace for Serhou Guirassy as well as goals from Maximilian Beier and Ramy Bensebaini. His eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh assists on Matchday 22 makes the 28-year-old just the fourth player since detailed data collection in 2004/05 to register four assists in a Bundesliga match, per Opta.
Assisting Guirassy – who continued his purple patch in front of goal with six goals in four games – after three minutes means Ryerson has created nine goals in as many competitive appearances across all competitions in 2026, surpassed only by Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise (10), among Europe’s top five leagues.
It’s remarkable form for Dortmund’s unsung hero, who remained humble post Mainz win. “It’s not all that difficult. I just have to place the ball in the right spot. The others finish it off,” he said.
