Tyson Fury’s return to the ring continues to get talked about not because of what happened in the ring against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 but, rather, shortly after.
Following Fury’s lopsided decision win, boxing financier Turki Alalshikh invited Eddie Hearn into the ring but the Matchroom chairman stayed ringside, as did Anthony Joshua, his client, despite Tyson’s challenge to fight him next.
Everything Fury and Joshua said suggested that the former was trying to instigate a fight, while the former latter refused to be baited into giving away any leverage he could have at the negotiating table.
Regardless, Netflix said, “It’s happening,” when posting the incident on its X.
“Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. This autumn from the UK. LIVE only on Netflix.”

The mixed messaging here gives Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather a run for their money considering the Filipino’s insistence that their apparent September showdown is a rematch in a fully-sanctioned rematch, against the American’s claim that it’s nothing more than an exhibition.

Elsewhere, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez posted footage of himself back in the gym as speculation mounts regarding his own planned return to boxing in September.
The former undisputed super middleweight champion, who lost all his world titles to Terence Crawford in September, 2025, is due for a comeback, likely to return on the weekend closest to Mexican Independence Day.
Fighters like Christian Mbilli, Hamzah Sheeraz, and Chris Eubank Jr. have been in the running to fight him, but perhaps Canelo would consider David Benavidez, too, depending on how The Mexican Monster performs in his Cinco de Mayo challenge of Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez’s cruiserweight titles.
ESPN Insider Tweets Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn in August
Tyson Fury wasn’t the only fighter who flattered to deceive on Saturday, as Regis Prograis took Conor Benn the distance even though he was brought in to make the British slugger look good despite being close to retirement, and carrying four injuries prior to fight night.
Despite the sub-standard performance, which one critic said continues his failing form since testing positive for the banned substance clomiphene, Benn was the talk of social media, with many fighters volunteering as tribute.
Shakur Stevenson was one, who yawned through Benn’s boxing.
And Garcia was another.
On Sunday, Salvador Rodriguez at ESPN posted a succession of sirens, a side-by-side of the WBC welterweight champion alongside Benn, followed by a caption which said the fight was going to be “on Netflix” in August.
