Emma Raducanu is on the hunt for yet another new coach, after splitting with Francisco Roig following the Australian Open.
Raducanu addressed rumours about Simona Halep becoming her new coach while at the Transylvania Open.
The British star has begun life without Roig strongly by reaching the semi-final of the WTA 250 event in Romania.
As Raducanu looks for another coach, Andy Murray’s former coach Brad Gilbert has revealed if he’s interested in the role.
Brad Gilbert is not interested in coaching Emma Raducanu
Gilbert was asked if he would be interested in becoming Raducanu’s tenth coach since her breakthrough in 2021.
The American coach criticised Raducanu’s history with coaches, before rejecting claims he could become her new mentor.
“I am surprised it lasted this long! She made it to six months! Isn’t that a long go for her?,” said Gilbert on The Big T.
Asked if he would coach Raducanu, Coco Vandeweghe and Danielle Collins, Gilbert simply shook his finger to say no.
“The legendary coach, who has worked with the likes of Murray and Coco Gauff, then said: “I want to coach again but I will make my decision…”
Gilbert has plenty of history working with British talent, having worked at the LTA for three years concurrently while working with Murray.
However, it appears he will not be adding Raducanu to his impressive catalogue of talented tennis stars.
What Emma Raducanu has been working on without a coach
With no sign that Raducanu will add a new coach to her team anytime soon, the star has revealed her plans for the Transylvania Open and beyond.
“I think I’m going to take a few days, get back home, and try and just re-evaluate my game a bit,” she told TNT Sports.
“I think I want to be playing a different way. And I think the misalignment with how I’m playing right now and how I want to be playing is something that I just want to work on.”
Raducanu has beaten Greet Minnen, Kaja Juvan, and Maja Chwalińska without dropping a set at the Romanian event.
The British number one will play Oleksandra Oliynykova in the semi-final as she looks to claim her first title since the US Open in 2021.
