Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Fight IQ with Odair Cavalcanti
Looking to add some ground game to your life? Welcome to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at Fight IQ MMA Gym in Amsterdam. This isn’t just rolling around on the mats — it’s one of the most effective, addictive, and honestly fun martial arts you can train.
What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is all about grappling, submissions, and leverage. No punching, no kicking — just pure technique and clever body positioning to outsmart your opponent. Whether you’re smaller, bigger, flexible, or stiff as a board, BJJ teaches you how to use what you’ve got.
Here’s what makes it awesome:
- Takedowns: Get the fight to the ground.
- Control positions: Guard, mount, side control — the building blocks of good Jiu-Jitsu.
- Submissions: Armbars, kimuras, chokes… all the fun stuff.
And yes, we spar. A lot. “Rolling” is where you get to test your skills in a safe, friendly way — and where the learning really sticks. Plus, it’s a killer workout.
Meet BJJ Coach Odair Cavalcanti

This is the guy running the show — and he knows his stuff.
Odair is a 3rd-degree black belt with 28 years of Jiu-Jitsu experience and over 15 years of teaching experience. He’s competed all over the world, holds a top-100 ranking in Brazil, and is part of the legendary Brazilian Top TeamBrazilian Top Team.
But here’s the thing: despite his competition record, Odair keeps it simple. His classes focus on solid fundamentals, effective techniques, and making sure everyone — from total beginners to competitors — walks away having learned something useful.
