Brentford boss Keith Andrews, speaking to Sky Sports about how frustrated he is after dropping points from 2-0 up: “Yeah, very frustrated. The first half I thought we played well, I thought we could’ve been more clinical in moments of decision making we had to make more of what was a pretty controlled half, although they had moments, and they’re always going to cause that because they’re a well-organised team filled with really talented individuals and in the second half we didn’t have control. Even when it was in transitional moments and phases we didn’t look in control at any stage really. We were huffing and puffing. I didn’t like the second half.”
On his thoughts on a potential back pass to Jose Sa before Wolves’ first goal: “I’ve seen that as a back pass as well.”
On the lack of control in the second half: “We didn’t do the basics as well as we did in the first half and ultimately it cost us.”
On whether it was a missed opportunity to close in on the teams above them: “I think when you’re talking about us in the same breath as Chelsea, that’s obviously pretty good considering there’s only eight games left of the season but the reality is we could’ve produced more tonight, and I think we need to be honest with that and look at ourselves and the second half performance and why we produced that.”
Andrews, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “We are disappointed but equally we need to understand why I suppose. We created some opportunities and I felt like we could’ve had more if we had been a little more clinical and our decision making a bit sharper. Second half I wanted us to be front-foot and we couldn’t get control of the game in the second half like in the first. We didn’t do the basics as well and ultimately we’re frustrated with that.”
On Wolves playing well: “That’s for them to discuss. I think where Wolves are it’s pretty obvious they’ve upped their game. I think some of the players need to have a good look in the mirror as to why they found themselves where they are. There is a lot of talent in that squad. They can cause you serious problems. That’s for Rob and other people to discuss.
On the backpass: “I think there is enough officials in and around the pitch to identify whether it is a backpass or not. The fact I’m getting asked about it in every interview would suggest that most people would think it was a backpass.”
On it not being seen as a reason for losing: “I’m not making an excuse at all, I’m giving my comment on the incident which made it 2-1 and a very different game going into half-time.”
On their attacking threats in the first half: “We’ve got lots of different strengths to the way we can play the game. Thiago has had a big day, he has been called up for Brazil which is huge for him. We want to be unpredictable and cause the opposition problems in any way we can. We did that on a good few occasions, in particular the first half.”
On what the messaging will be going forwards: “I think it’s really simple. If we produce a second half performance again we will struggle, if we produce first-half performances of that level then we will have a good end to the season.”

Wolves boss Rob Edwards speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “Really, really pleased and proud. To be 2-0 down, I didn’t feel we deserved it but we were, so credit to Brentford. I thought we made a couple of errors and got punished. I felt we were playing really well.
“We showed a lot of belief and quality as well, but great fighting spirit to keep going and get to a point in the game where I felt we could go on and win it. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be but I’m really proud of the performance overall.
On Armstrong’s goal: “It gave us belief. The lads felt that we were right in the game as well, so having that goal certainly helped. Then it wasn’t a case of changing too much structurally [at half time], changed a little bit personnel wise and then we controlled big spells of that second half.”
On the back pass before the goal: “I’ve just seen it now in another interview and yes it looks that way. I think he felt there was a nick on it at the time, but if we’ve got away with that one then we’ll certainly take it. Of course a lot has happened then to get to the goal, but maybe that was has gone for us.”
On the fight: “The players are, and we owe it to the football club, ourselves, the fans to keep fighting all the way until the 38th game, so we’ll do that. We spoke a lot today about the impact the subs can have from the side, and they have been in recent weeks, whether that is scoring goals or having a big impact, and we got that again tonight. Al the lads that came on were really effective. It is a squad game. Really pleased for Tolu, but all the lads were great.”
On West Ham after the break: “We know that’s a big game, they all are. We’ll get some time off and then it will be a mixture of good training weeks and a friendly in there as well to make sure we prepare for the right way. We’ve never had a 25 day break in the season before so it will be a new one for all of us.”
Edwards, speaking to Sky Sports about how scoring before half-time changed his game plan: “I felt we were playing really well and they went 2-0 up, and I felt it was our fault. Getting that goal allowed us to keep the same shape, same plan, probably just a little adjustment personnel-wise, but I thought we were right in the game, and it probably proved to be the right thing at half-time. I thought the second half performance was excellent.”
On whether he thought it was Wolves’ to win when they made it 2-2: “Yeah, we were. I thought the energy in the stadium and the feeling in the stadium was we were the team on top, we were pushing. We hit the post, we hit the bar, and I thought it was an excellent performance.
“I’m really proud of the lads. It’s hard to say when you’ve been 2-0 down but I felt we could’ve won the game tonight. I’m really proud after coming back against this team away from home. It’s really difficult, you can see how well they’re doing this season. It shows the fight, the courage, the quality, the spirit that’s in the group.
“The club at the moment, even though we’re in this position, it actually feels united all together, and we all know what we want to do going forward. We want to find a winning team again and there’s a long way to go but we’re going the right way about it.”
Here’s how fans reacted as Brentford’s Keith Andrews says he is unhappy with officials over the back pass in build-up to Wolves’ first goal…
@st07pat: Both the linesman and ref are looking straight at it ffs. Once again it shows the incompetence of our officials
@LeeScourfield: How has he got away with that??
@wwfc_rj: I’d be fuming if I was a Brentford fan about that back pass just before the goal. #wwfc #wolves
